i have been working on an art piece for almost 2 weeks. its of wahkeena falls. its a sketch made with an ordinary pencil. the process that i used to make it was to draw the original on graph paper, copy it(with a copying machine ) and draw over the copy with the pencil again. then, i took a picture of it and posted it on flickr. it turned out great:

    Nicely done, Jamey!!

If you can get a nice, clear scan of that, it would look good in Field Guide.

What do you suppose is around that next bend?

Jamey, one thing you can try is replace whatever the ending is, so if it is ".doc" change it to be".jpg" and see if you can then open it in somekind of image editing program like photoshop and then resave it as a "real" jpg.  Make sense…?

Let me know if that works for you.

Jamey, most scanners will let you select the output type. Mine is HP and my son's is Epson, and they both do--and I've seen others. Try re-scanning the image and select .jpg for output type.

    It's a beautiful drawing!

it didnt work and the orriginal file type was TIFF.  what happened was that it had no .TIFF or anything on the end of it, then i added .jpg to it, but it didnt make it a picture

Jamey, while it sounds as though you may need a better scanner, you might want to check if one of the copying stores would be able to scan your drawings.

after trying a gazzilion programs to scan from, i finally got a good scan of it.

this is unedited right from the scanner, but if you think i should boost the contrast, i can do that and repost it.  please be serious, i dont mind if people say i should edit it!!

I increased the contrast a bit to bring out the great detail.

I posted it at portlandhikersfieldguide.org/wiki/Wahkeena_Falls. Let me know if that's OK. It's a great piece of art.

What do you suppose is around that next bend?
