    Sorry to bring this one back from the dead,   Here is some thing to think about for the last 70 plus years we have had flat roads, sidewalks, floors and so on with shoes that are made for that now that has made our ankles used to flat ground or you could say weak. The more we can build up flexibility and strength like walking in sand and on rocks so your ankle gets use to twisting the less need you will have for the heavy boot for so called extra support.

    good point! and yeah, i dont ever use anything but my regular running style tennis shoes, and it works fine for me!
