This hike has been cancelled. We are changing trail and destination. See new post.
Fred and I are planning another snowy exploration for this Thursday, April 17, 2008. We will meet other hikers at the Wyeth Campground gate (I asume it is not yet open) and depart to North Lake at 9 am on Thursday. Bring your snowshoes.
Directions: Go a few miles past Cascade Locks on I-84 and take the Wyeth exit. Turn right at the end of the exit ramp and then right again onto the service road. The Wyeth gate is less than 1/2 mile down the service road and very close to it. Limited parking is available.
If the gate is open, a Northwest Forest Pass will be required to enter. Proceed straight back past the camp ground to the parking area near the trail head.
As usual, bring plenty of food for lunch and snacks and plenty of water. This hike is difficult in sections and moderate in others. Some steep off trail routes may be used. We use a moderate, steady pace with occasional stops for snacks and water. Snowshoes are a must.
If you choose you may reply to the post to let us know that you are interested. It would be helpful to know that someone might join us. We will leave the gate at 9 am.
