Hello!  I moved to Oregon in '06 and am still learning my way around this great state! I moved here after 20 yrs in AZ so the change is drastic. And wonderful! So far my hiking experience has been limited but includes several funny attempts to get to Bagby (I finally made it) and a camping trip out to Clear Lake.

I am hoping to meet some people that share my love of the great outdoors. I'm really in the getting back into shape catagory but I love long hikes with scenic views. As for camping, anywhere I can bring my doggie is a plus!

Some of my other hobbies include belly dancing, reading, music, and Foodie-in-Training.

I look forward to making friends, getting out there, and maybe catching some fish this season!

    Greetings Aes

If you love the great out doors you've come to the right place ( both Portland and Hikers, org )

This is a serious collection of straight up outdoors, waterfall loving, freaks. I mean that in the best possible way of course.

My self I am beginning to relate to the belly dancing thing, because this time of year my belly is starting to dance of its own volition. Its definitely time to hit the trails with a vengeance. See you in the high places. I prefer the long view and thin air to waterfalls my self. Happy trails.

LOL! Yeah winter makes it easy to put on a few extra. I'm looking to hike off a few myself!

What is your favorite easy waterfall hike?

There are tons of excellent easy waterfall hikes in the Gorge, including the Oneonta-Horsetail Loop, the Multnomah-Wahkeena Loop, Wahclella Falls, Eagle Creek to Punchbowl Falls, Bridal Veil Falls...etc. Those are all super easy, 5 miles and under.

There are also some excellent short waterfall hikes further south, including the Trail of 10 Falls at Silver Falls State Park, Butte Creek Falls (if you can stand the drive), Henline Falls in the Opal Creek area, and my personal favorite, the short 0.4 mile roundtrip trail to Breitenbush Cascades, a MASSIVE series of falls in the Mt. Jefferson Wilderness (only recommended if you don't care about driving on crummy roads, because it's just off one of the crummiest).

There's also Munson Falls and University Falls in the Coast Range, and those are both really easy.

Most of these are in the Field Guide. Welcome to Portland Hikers!

this one's my favorite: Wahclella Falls.  The trailhead is about an hour from Portland, and the falls about 1 mile from the trailhead.  A great starter hike that can be done virtually year round.  One down side is you have to get a forest pass to park here.  You can get an annual pass at GI Joes for $30 and it works anywhere that requires a forest pass
