    The Mt. Hood National Forest, the Gifford-Pinchot National Forest and the Columbia River Gorge National Scenic Area are seeking interns to perform stream inventories. Work involves the collection of data on stream habitats, stream and riparian conditions, and fish presence. istoric Timberline Lodge on the Mt. Hood NF is seeking summer interns for its interpretive and conservation education program. Interns represent the USDA Forest Service at Timberline Lodge and in its scenic surroundings, providing guided tours at the lodge, leading nature hikes and campfire talks. More Information

    Interns receive a small stipend and government housing.

    Work passionately on behalf of the finest hiking and equestrian trail in the Western United States.  You don’t need to daydream any more – you can have an outdoor lifestyle and a rewarding full time professional career too.  Work for the Pacific Crest Trail Association!

     

    The Pacific Crest Trail Association, headquartered in Sacramento, California is dedicated to protecting, preserving and promoting the Pacific Crest National Scenic Trail.  The following staff position is currently open:

     

    Regional Representative for the North Central California Region

     

    In this position you will have the opportunity to:

    • Establish PCTA’s first regional office in the Reno/Tahoe area
    • Work with a wide variety of agency partners and volunteer organizations to protect and enhance the Pacific Crest Trail experience for generations to come.
    • Facilitate and support the growth and effectiveness of volunteer trail workers and leaders throughout the region.
    • Spend time outdoors and on the trail.

     

    The Regional Representative is a key full time staff position based in the North Central California Region.  Annual Salary is $34,000 - $38,000, depending on qualifications.  Benefits include health insurance, a contribution to a 403b plan, 11 paid holidays, paid vacation and paid sick leave.

     

    We are seeking applicants with:

    • A bachelor’s degree in natural resource, recreation, planning or related field
    • Minimum two years relevant work experience
    • Trail design, construction and maintenance skills
    • Proven experience in working with and as a volunteer
    • Experience with public land managing agencies and volunteer organizations
    • Strong organization, writing and speaking skills
    • Self-motivated professional performance
    • Knowledge and experience of the PCT and/or the national trails system
    • Ability to work cooperatively with a wide variety of partners

    Trail Team Member

    Northwest Service Academy AmeriCorps

    Service Dates: May 19, 2008 – October 24, 2008

    Trout Lake, Washington

    Mt. Adams Center

    Mt. Adams Center Trail Teams are composed of five members and two Team Leaders. Teams will focus on trail work in front and back country settings throughout Oregon, Washington and California, but may also be engaged in a variety of restoration projects such as building riparian fences, invasive plant removal and tree planting.

    Residential Summary:

    Some teams may be based out of the Mt. Adams Center in Trout Lake, Washington.

    Satellite teams will spend the majority of their term away from the Mt Adams Center, either camping at project sites for weeks at a time or living in housing located near their project site for the entire term. These teams may stay at the Mt. Adams Center intermittently during training days or between projects. All team members assist with residential chores such as meal preparation, cleaning and recycling at their housing site, the Center and at camping sites.

    Washington Trails Association

     

    Washington Trails Association seeks Development Director

    Do you have a passion for hiking trails that might be contagious?  If you could save the wilderness from your desk, would you jump at the chance?  WTA is looking for an experienced Development Director with a proven track record of managing fundraising programs and building strong relationships.  Whether talking up trails at a work party or a cocktail party, candidates should be prepared to make fun the very serious business of protecting and maintaining trails.

    The Development Director works with the Executive Director to build relationships with individual donors, as well as private foundations and corporations.  The Development Director is responsible for managing strategic cultivation programs, timely solicitation and all ensuing acknowledgment and follow up.  The Development Director also supervises the Membership Manager’s implementation of membership acquisition and retention programs.  

    The position is open until filled.
