  • Thread suggestion:: Carpooling into the Wild???

    Hey Folks,

I would like to propose a rideshare or car-pooling thread or forum.  I think anything that would help people get into the outdoors using our resources more efficiently would be a big plus.

I would like to increase our options.  I usually like to wander solo, but would be happy to share rides, costs and company to get to the trailheads.

Any ideas or suggestions or support for my proposal??

Yeh cware its a great idea for a thread. I think the Organize and Invite forum is what your talking about. On NW Hikers they call it partners, I`m capooling to the Bitterroot wilderness in August fishing for 10 days. Would`nt be going if I had to foot the whole bill myself. I hooked up with a few guys and were riding over togetherBig Smile

    Hi Cware,

Yes I think that is a good idea.   It might make sense to have a stickied thread in the "Organize and Invite" section about ride sharing.  We are getting close to being ready to switch to the new forum- so we can set it up then hopefully.

I plan to start posting when I plan to go on a hike and the general area and times of where I plan to go.  Not neccessarily looking for hiking partners, but just someone to give a few bucks towards gas and make the trip less wasteful.  With gas prices being what they are (and what they may be in the future), hiking could turn into an expensive hobby and it seems prudent to be more responsible about fuel usage.
