Hey all, my name's Casey. I'm 21 years old, I've been wandering in the woods around Portland all my life but just last year got enough gear to do multi-day trips. I am loving the ability to go farther away from civilization with a pack and am looking for others with similar interests that would be interested in joining me on mini-trips to the gorge and everywhere else this summer. I was told about this site from Thomas, who picked my friend Evan and I from Cascade Locks after a little attempt at Wahtum Lake a couple weeks ago. He said it was the first time he had picked up any hitchhikers since the 70s, so that's just how friendly looking we are! I am happy to see Portland has a hiking community like this.
A little information about myself. I do seasonal Park Maintenance 9 months of the year, 3 months off. I am a professional longboarder and am racing somewhere most summer weekends. I am interested in survivalism, ecology, mycology, bird language, well this list could go on for a while so I'll just say anything about living things interest me, some I know more about than others. By definition I am agnostic, in relation to all religions I know of (besides pantheism), I am an atheist. On trail, I tend to hike fairly fast but am easily side-tracked and have no problem staring at a rabbit for an hour, I try not to set strict goals for my adventures so I can afford to waste time climbing trees, exploring off trail or whatever else happens to pop up. I'm a mellow guy, not much bothers me and I get along with people even when I shouldn't. Send me a message if you want to go do some exploring!
