I hiked the lower Trapper Creek area yesterday for the first time. We did the short loop: Trapper Creek trail (#192) to Observation Peak Trail (#132) to a cuttoff trail (#195), back to Trapper Creek Trail (#192) and back to the trailhead. This was roughly a 6 to 6.5 mile loop with ~1,500' elevation gain. We would have opted for the next longer loop (cutoff trail #198), but knee pain in our hiking party required shortening the hike. Sounds like we may have encountered snow if we had done that. It was a beautiful day with few people on the trails. We saw 2 groups of people all day and there were only ~ 6 cars at the trailhead.
