Just saying hello here as I just found this site. I have done most all the hikes in the Columbia Gorge several times as well as some coastal ones and been up Hood a few times. While I do like to have fun and enjoy the scenery on some hikes, alot of the time I push it and see how fast I can accomplish them. Last year, I did Mt Defiance in 4 hours, 54 minutes RT and Tanner Butte in 5 hours, 40 minutes RT. I've also done the Timberline in under a day as well. But I do like to slow em down once in a while and enjoy! That said, I lost my hiking partner last year (moved away) so now I typically hike alone. If anyone here is a little crazy, wanting to power hike once in a while and has a good sense of humor, I'd love to hike with someone. I have a pretty crass sense of humor so someone who has near the same would be great. Not to worry though, I can keep it in check and I usually just make fun of myself!
Oh, and I live in Hood River, 33, male and a volunteer Firefighter/EMT-B.
    Glad to be here!!

Hey Brady.  Welcome to the site.  Tanner Butte in 5 hours 40 minutes is pretty dang good!  There are some other motorheads on this site as well - stick around and I'm sure you'll connect with a few of them.

I'm kinda like Jamey, I'd love to see if we could take the challenge of teaching you about a trail in the Gorge you haven't heard of !! Smile

    Hmmm.....how about:
    Greenleaf
    Birkenfeld
    Archer Falls
    Michell Point
    Hardy Ridge
    Cedar Mountain
    Mist Falls
    Rock of Ages
    Cape Horn Loop

Thanks everyone!! I have done all those hikes except 2, but I've never heard of those 2. Hardy Ridge and Mist Falls. Any websites with info on them? I like a challenge so if their long, I'm in! I use a couple sites and have a couple books but haven't heard of them. I'm always up for new trails!!

    mist falls

ive been there twice and i love it. rught now it has pretty large amount of water in it, so a good time to go.

mist falls hike isnt the least bit long. its only .3 miles long, but it is a rough scramble. you could do it for a warm up for a longer one..........

Hi Sue. I am a transplant but I have lived here for over 8 years and I moved here on purpose! I love it in HR as it's close to everything outdoors, it's beautiful and the people are top notch. I'm from Gresham originally but that's not to say anything bad about anywhere else! I just love HR!

Great!  Well you're well travelled!  Smile

Hardy Ridge is the next "mountain" over to the West from Hamilton Mountain on the Washington side.  I haven't been up there myself, but I know bjul49 (Judth with the Mazamas) has lead hikes up there a number of times. I don't know of a website that has the info on that hike

Thanks for the heads up, I've never heard of it but I should be able to find it on my green trails. I thought the next mountain over to the west was Table? Maybe it's the ridge that eventually connects them? I will look into it though, I always love new hikes! Thanks!
