While reading the forum guidlines (http://portlandhikers.org/content/ForumGuidelines.aspx) I noticed near the bottom it read, "We have a forum thread called "Photo of the Day" for people to highlight photos they're proud of."

I've noticed the "Photography" forum but seems like it's more tech oriented.  Was the "Photo of the Day" phased out? shifted to the photography forum?  A post within a forum that I've missed?

I'm probably just confused/lost, but wondering.

I think it's buried back in the general forum but it seems to have been months since someone added to it. Probably easier to just start a new one if you want..

I just timed it.  It takes me 10 minutes from start to finish to send a picture.  That includes uploading to "My Gallery", then uploading to a post such as this.  Some people have said you can cut-n-paste directly from your personal collection, but when I do that, it comes out thumbnail size.  So I'm really slow at getting them posted.  Perhaps when I get high-speed, I'll have more patience, but there's not many companys that provide high speed up here.

Anyway, here's a photo I'm really pleased with.

    That's a great picture Lynn!

As far as the time is concerned, I recommend giving up on the gallery. Grab a free account at photobucket or somewhere and you're in business. I can upload a dozen pictures and write the trip report in less than ten minutes.

What do you suppose is around that next bend?

That's what I've learned after my first trip report. I love the idea of having a gallery here, but the time it takes and the fact that I can't batch upload them make it unfeasible for me to update mine.

Despite my wordy reports, I myself just look at the pictures from other people's reports.. ahem *blush*. If the pictures look really interesting, or if it's some place I want to go to, then I'll read them.. I know, horrible of me.. but pretty pretty photos! What more does one need?

Here I go being wordy again.. anyway, I love the "photo of the day" idea! Someone need to go dig it up :D Or something.

So this sluggish loading isn't because I still have dial-up?  I thought maybe it would always be slow till I get high-speed.
