I'm toying with snowshoeing up to Horseshoe Ridge or East Zigzag Mountain this weekend.  According to pdxgene's post we should be anle to start pretty close to the bridge crossing over the Sandy River.  Round trip would be up to 10 miles with about 3000 feet elevation gain (see map here).

With warm conditions forecasted the snow should be soft and make for a challenging day, but I think definitely doable and worth it.  I need to get these legs in shape for the summer!   Let me know if interested.

This weekend being Saturday or Sunday? I might be able to make Saturday.

... though I'm so out of shape I might not be able to keep up.. so nevermind :P

I might be heading out that general direction on Sunday if the forecast holds. I'll be interested to see how far you get. So far I haven't made it more than a couple hundred yards into the forest past the Burnt Lake trailhead which was about 9 miles r-t but will now be less. Being able to get to the bridge will finally cut that first (and last)  annoying 3/4's of a mile off your distance . I'd imagine you'll be setting the trail as soon as you head off the road up into the woods. But one good thing...... No Ticks!

Leaning towards Saturday but given I didn't get this posted until mid-week could do Sunday too.  This weekend I'm flexible like that for a change.  I would hope to get started out from the car around 9 or 9:30 AM.  Let me know here or send a private message.  I can give anyone a call tonight if you send me your number.  I would have my dog Kodi along, and yes, thankfully there would be no ticks!
