I found this thing in Whychus Creek Canyon, northeast of Sisters, about a month ago. Unfortunately, it didn't seem to be in full bloom, but it clearly has five petals (and five sepals?), and the leaves are very distinctive... yet I have no clue what it might be.

Beautiful photos of this plant, really cool! What kind of camera were you using? Sorry I can`t help with the species.

My camera is nothing special: a Canon PowerShot S2 IS.
I was flipping through one of my wildflower books and came across a page full of
Gilia
that all have leaves exactly like my mystery plant.... but most gilias are bluish.
Update: Now I'm fairly certain that it's a
Mentzelia
of some kind, either
albicaulis
or
veatchiana
.

Hi Adam,
I think you are correct that it is a
Mentzelia
. I'm guessing that it is
Mentzelia albicaulis
. Of course it's difficult to know without seeing it in bloom.

Yeah, that's my guess too, although it could just as easily be
veatchiana
. The Oregon Flora Atlas shows both in that part of Oregon.
