I found this thing in Whychus Creek Canyon, northeast of Sisters, about a month ago.  Unfortunately, it didn't seem to be in full bloom, but it clearly has five petals (and five sepals?), and the leaves are very distinctive... yet I have no clue what it might be.

Beautiful  photos of this plant, really cool! What kind of camera were you using? Sorry I can`t help with the species.

My camera is nothing special: a Canon PowerShot S2 IS.

I was flipping through one of my wildflower books and came across a page full of Gilia that all have leaves exactly like my mystery plant.... but most gilias are bluish.

Update: Now I'm fairly certain that it's a Mentzelia of some kind, either albicaulis or veatchiana.

    Hi Adam,

I think you are correct that it is a Mentzelia. I'm guessing that it is Mentzelia albicaulis. Of course it's difficult to know without seeing it in bloom.

Yeah, that's my guess too, although it could just as easily be veatchiana. The Oregon Flora Atlas shows both in that part of Oregon.
